A Few Tips Before You Go

Peach season in Northern Virginia typically runs from late June through August, with peak ripeness in mid-July. Go early in the day — orchards can be picked clean by noon on a hot summer weekend. Always bring more containers than you think you need, and bring a cooler to keep your peaches fresh on the drive home. Peaches are best used within a few days of picking, so plan to eat, bake, or freeze them quickly once you get home.
