For many families in Loudoun County, school boundary changes can feel unsettling. Over the past few years, several communities have experienced adjustments as the county continues to grow and new schools open.
So for parents in Aldie and South Riding, the latest update from Loudoun County Public Schools brings some welcome news: none of the elementary schools serving these communities are included in the current round of proposed boundary adjustments. Instead the majority of the impacted schools in this latest round are in the Ashburn area.
While school boundaries can always evolve as Loudoun County grows, this update provides a measure of stability for families living in — or considering a move to — these neighborhoods.
Why Aldie & South Riding School Rezoning Changes Have Been a Concern
Loudoun County remains one of the fastest-growing areas in Northern Virginia. As new neighborhoods and schools open, the school district occasionally adjusts attendance boundaries to balance enrollment across the county.
Two years ago, many families were watching closely when the opening of Henrietta Lacks Elementary School prompted a boundary discussion affecting parts of Loudoun County. Some students were reassigned, while others were allowed to remain at their current schools through a “grandfathering” option.
For families with young children, school continuity is important — which is why rezoning discussions often receive a lot of attention locally.
The Latest Update Brings Stability — For Now
According to recent reporting from Loudoun Now, the most recent round of proposed boundary adjustments does not include elementary schools serving Aldie or South Riding communities.
That means families in neighborhoods such as:
Westbury Glen
Lenah Run
Lenah Mill
South Riding
Stone Ridge
are not affected by elementary rezoning in this round of discussions.
For many parents who have followed school boundary conversations over the past several years, this provides a welcome pause.
Which Elementary Schools Serve Aldie and South Riding?
Several elementary schools currently serve families living in Aldie and the surrounding South Riding area, including:
Goshen Post Elementary
Pinebrook Elementary
Aldie Elementary School
Liberty Elementary School
Arcola Elementary School
As Loudoun County continues to grow, school assignments can always evolve over time, but for now these communities are not part of the latest elementary boundary adjustments being discussed.
What This Means for Families Considering a Move to Aldie
One of the most common questions I hear from buyers relocating to Loudoun County is about schools and zoning.
While school boundaries can never be guaranteed long-term in a fast-growing county like Loudoun, the fact that Aldie and South Riding are not part of the current rezoning discussions offers reassurance for families evaluating the area.
It’s also one of the many reasons these communities continue to attract families looking for a balance of:
newer homes
strong community feel
access to Loudoun County Public Schools
proximity to both Northern Virginia job centers and open space
As someone who both lives in Aldie and works with buyers relocating to Loudoun County, I know how important these details are when families are deciding where to plant roots.
